Marc Lalonde

Marc Lalonde

It is with great sadness that I must share with all of you that one of our 100 Brokers Who Care contributing members, Marc Lalonde has passed away. Marc was a beloved father to three remarkable children; Aidan, Devyn, and Liam, and loving husband to our sister, Aileen. He was truly an outstanding person, and an exemplary member of the Coquitlam community who volunteered his time as a coach, mentor, and leader. He pursued all endeavours filled with passion and enthusiasm, and could always be relied upon by anyone in his family or community. After a courageous battle with mental illness, Marc sadly died by suicide. We lost a good man – Marc will forever be in our hearts.

Marc’s family has established a non-profit foundation in his honour, and we hope his legacy lives on through the Marc Lalonde Memorial Foundation. The Foundation’s mission will be to offer ongoing personal, professional, and educational development for young people, and work to reduce stigma associated with depression and mental illness. The GoFundMe page is a way for people who would like to support a cause that Marc was an advocate for in a meaningful and impactful way. Marc’s impact and influence have made a lasting impression on all those around him, near and far. His energy, passion, and drive were contagious and only a few of the characteristics that made him such an incredible man to be in the presence of. More information and ways to donate, can be found through the link below.

Marc was a huge advocate of 100 Brokers since it’s inception and did so much to promote membership to his mastermind groups and broker friends across Canada. Marc nominated one of our first causes for Karen Hope of First National who received funds as a result of Marc’s nomination.

Our mortgage community is in great sadness today as we grapple with the loss of such a great person. Marc was not only a great broker but a mentor to so many brokers across the country. Marc was a major advocate for mental health, and would want you to know that you are not alone in your grief. If you feel hopeless and you need to talk please call the Canada Suicide Prevention Service, 24/7 at 833-456-4566.

The mortgage industry lost a great man and more importantly, we lost a great friend. Marc will truly be missed by all of us, but never forgotten.

Please send your thoughts and prayers to his family during this difficult time. If you wish to contribute to the non-profit foundation, you can find the link below.

A nomination will be put forward for this Foundation to be the recipient of funds for this next quarter.
